"L'Dor  V'Dor" - From Generation to Generation

Asher Zamansky

What better theme for a scholarship by a congregation of seniors than L'Dor V'Dor? In compliance with Jewish traditions to sustain Hebrew as our language, and Judaic studies for future generations, Congregation 420 of the Jack Satter House in Revere, Mass. selected Prozdor High School at Hebrew College as beneficiaries of this years. Congregation 420 Senior Award for Academic Excellence.

Threat of rain did not deter 300 family members and friends of 126 graduates from attending the festivities.  Seated among them were members of the Scholarship Committee: Asher Zamansky, chair, Lillia Cooper, Jennie Razin, Reina Saval and Millie Vogel.

These graduates are high school seniors who attend classes after school.  Not only do they carry a regular high school curriculum but they must also concentrate on Judaic subjects.

We beamed with pride as Sari Haime and Anna Yukhanano received the awards.  Sari has been accepted at Tufts University and Anna will be attending Johns Hopkins.

Student speakers regaled the audience with anecdotes of their experiences at Prozdor.  Daniel Hazony spoke in Hebrew, recalling experiences at the local Hebrew school.

The Director of Development, David Chivo was extremely cooperative in our negotiations for these awards.

The rain came down in torrents from the tented roof and trickled onto the floor. However, no one paid any attention to Mother Nature's outburst.  As if on cue, however, the rain stopped when the last graduate received the diploma.

The Scholarship Committee hopes to continue the relationship with this school.  Where can one find a better place for tuition assistance than Prozdor which promotes Jewish education for future leaders of Judaism?
