Ted Rosen

YOU ASK ME WHY I CRY by Ted Rosen I cry for those who go astray, I cry that HE will light their way. I cry for those who cannot see The wonders of a Christmas tree I cry for those who cannot hear The sound of love when love is near. I cry each time I touch a leaf, I cry for those who don’t believe. And you ask me why I cry. I cry for those who live in pain, For those who fight and die in vain. I cry for those who turn away When arms reach out for them to stay. I cry for those, the mild, the meek, Who see each wrong and dare not speak. I cry for those who are not free, I cry in shame for all I see. And you ask me why I cry. Ted Rosen is a resident of the Simon C. Fireman Community in Randolph. He is an accomplished lyricist and has written music for Rosemary Clooney including “What’s Your Name?” He is the winner of the “Songs for Sale” contest in New York City and has collaborated with Sterling Holloway in the poem “Herkimer, the Homely Doll” which is part of “Best Children’s Songs.” For more information on Mr. Rosen, you may contact mmccarthy@hotmail.com.
